- * Ribosomal protein S9 signature *
- **********************************
-
- Ribosomal protein S9 is one of the proteins from the small ribosomal subunit.
- It belongs to a family of ribosomal proteins which, on the basis of sequence
- similarities [1,2], groups:
-
- - Eubacterial S9.
- - Archaebacterial Halobacterium marismortui HmaS9 (HS3).
- - Algal chloroplast S9.
- - Mammalian and plant S16.
-
- As a signature pattern, we selected a conserved region containing many charged
- residues and located in the C-terminal section of these proteins.
-
- -Consensus pattern: [DN]-x(4)-E-x-[KR]-K-x-G-x(3)-A-R-x(3)-Q-x-S-x-R
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
- -Last update: June 1994 / Text revised.
